When we were approached to create a banner for the World Pedalo Championships 2019, we were intrigued to say the least. Speaking to Jen from Wight Marine, she explained that it was all in aid of Wet Wheels, a fantastic charity that take out disabled people and their carers sailing. Jen mentioned there was one space left for a team, and we just had to take part!
We arrived at the beautiful Kings Manor Farm in Yarmouth to be greeted by the team from Wight Terrain. A total of 16 teams took part in beautiful sunny conditions including three yacht clubs, the Royal Solent Yacht Club, Yarmouth, South West Shingles Yacht Club and Itchenor Sailing Club, Chichester. There was also a team representing Virgin Atlantic!
We had so much fun on the day, with the team succesfully getting through the first and second heats and making it to the final. We came joint second place at the end of a great day and the youngest team there were the overall winners. Cheetah Marine took home the Claret trophy, which was brilliant as they build the Wetwheels boat at their base in Ventnor.
If you can spare a few pounds, please consider a donation for the worthy charity.
