Organised by the IW Chamber of Commerce, the Island’s largest business Expo presented more than 60 exhibiting businesses and pulled in hundreds of visitors to Lakeside Park Hotel in Wootton.
Since our first visit to the Business Expo in 2016, we have seen the benefits that it can bring to your business, which is why we have exhibited every year since.
It’s a chance for you to showcase your business, finding a way to stand out from the crowd and make visitors want to visit your stand. Not only this, but it is also a fantastic networking event with a Breakfast before and lots of networking through the day.
This year, we took along our Giant iTab once more, which proved very popular at last years expo. We showcased our new App – Flightbulb.
Flightbulb is a game created by the Brightbulb Design team for expo. We created a balloon for every exhibitor, so they had a chance to fly their own branded balloon on the game. During your flight, the aim is to avoid all obstacles and collect coins. The idea was to promote that with our latest staff intake and the new skills within the team, we can now offer iOS, Android and Windows App design and development as a service. Apps are becoming more popular with businesses as we all use our phones more and more, on average at least 2 hours a day. It brings the opportunity to deliver more functionalities and integrations than a website and is easily accessible on mobile phones.
The highest scorer by the end of the day won a ‘Hot air Balloon Hamper’ which included an amazon echo dot, smart lightbulbs, lightbulb glasses filled with sweets, and more.
Some exhibitors and visitors became very competitive and came back throughout the day for numerous attempts to beat the high score with David Beckett from WightFibre storming the leader board in the last hour.
We still have a competition running on Flightbulb where you can win over £100 worth of prizes, click here to find out more.
Normally at the IW business expo, we have found that there are a few large crowds throughout the day and some quieter moments, however this year was the busiest year yet, with a constant flow of visitors all day.
We really enjoyed walking around and seeing the creativity people had put into their stands. Hillbans Pest Control had “I’m a pest controller, get me out of here” which we helped design the posters for. They managed to convince a few of the team to try a mealworm or a cricket, however not all of us wanted to take part.
This year, there was also a Hillbans marquee where food and drink based Businesses exhibited. We had a taste of some Mermaid Gin, samples of Wight Crystals Apple and Elderflower drink, and some amazing coffee from The Island Tea and Coffee Co and Island Roasted
PC Consultants had a fantastic stand and offered keep me cups as a giveaway which we have already found very useful. Again another client that we helped with branded stickers, creating the correct logo for their keep cups and the large illuminated backdrop for their stand.
We were excited to see Lifeline’s stand as we had designed the circus themed booth, signs and tickets based around Lifeline’s sponsorship of the room at expo, welcoming visitors to the ‘Amazing Lifeline Room’, we thought it really stood out.
Many other businesses stood out such as Wight Computers, showing off what they could do by allowing you to control their stand using your phone or a tablet, and WightFibre had the coolest spot with an amazing, branded mobile store complete with gigabit broadband, their own branded van on the Forza xbox game and it was even air conditioned, a blessing on a hot day.
Our newest team members really enjoyed their first expo experience and have started collating ideas for what we can do next year.
We would like to say a huge well done to everyone that was involved in the Expo, from the organisers, exhibitors and of course the visitors.
If you are a new or established business and you have considered exhibiting, we highly recommend you do! If you need any ideas to help your stand look fantastic, feel free to get in touch with us ahead of next years event.
