AJ Wells & Sons Ltd, manufacturers of Signs Of The City, have been official suppliers of signage and cladding to the Rail industry andTransport for London for many years.

These authentic Underground, Street and Rail signs are manufactured to exactly the same specification as the signs you see in and around London and at many railway stations. They are produced in vitreous enamel a traditional process that involves fusing glass particles to sheet metal by firing it at temperatures in excess of 800°C. The finish has a unique depth and vibrance and has been specified by rail operators and local authorities for many years. Colourfast and weather-proof with exceptional durability, enamel signs are ideal for indoor or outdoor and require very little maintenance. Click here to watch the manufacturing process.

SOLUTION

Signs of the City were looking to launch a new product in collaboration with Transport for London called ‘Spot tops’. Spot tops are occasion tables sporting the iconic London underground roundel. Originally the idea was to add the new product to their existing website however after taking a look at the site Brightbulb Design could see the potential to make this site work better for the customer and increase sales for the client. The old site was not responsive or intuitive for mobile use and so we set about re-designing the site with a mobile first attitude. The new site was created using Magento, one of the best content management systems for e-commerce, widely used by millions of retailers across the globe. The site is presented more cleanly with more visual information on the homepage and in-keeping with a newly emerging style for A.J Wells and Sons company websites. The site is fully mobile responsive and has an easy to use interface on mobiles and devices which makes it easier for the customers to make their purchases. The site was launched at the same time as the Spot Top tables. The Spot tops were launched at London design festival through Design Junction.
